JOREN VAN ACKER
THE SIGHT THAT I DEPEND ON
October 25 - DECEMBER 1, 2024
We are thrilled to announce the opening of Joren Van Acker’s second solo exhibition, titled "The Sights That I Depend On." This compelling collection reflects the artist's deep connection to his surroundings and living environment, once again placing the maritime industrial world at the core of his work.
In this exhibition, Joren draws inspiration from the poetic world of the Impressionists, employing their techniques of capturing light to create vivid color sketches. These sketches lay the foundation for his large, black-and-white, abstract-figurative charcoal drawings. As a boatman by day, Joren’s daily experiences on the water profoundly shape his artistic vision, resulting in works that resonate with the rhythms and textures of his environment.
Through books, documentaries, and his own photography, Joren captures the beauty of everyday life in the maritime world, transforming these elements into an endless array of stunning forms. As he approaches his 30th birthday this November, we at the gallery believe there is no better time to showcase the significant growth he has undergone as an artist.
Join us to witness the evolution of Joren Van Acker's artistry in "The Sights That I Depend On." The exhibition offers a unique window into the intersection of light, environment, and artistic expression, inviting viewers to experience the world through Joren's perceptive eyes.
